Circuit/System Verification
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Remove the duct closest to the component: B75C Multifunction Intake Air Sensor - Outlet
- Install - Appropriate tool:
- Block Off Adapter @ Intake Air Duct
- Block Off Adapter @ Tail Pipe
- Install - GE-52250 Variable Pressure Leak Detector - Hose @ Appropriate tool: Block Off Adapter
- Before proceeding with this test, review the tool user manual for Safety Information and Instructions: GE-52250 Variable Pressure Leak Detector
- The user manual that is supplied with the tool, is also available online, refer to: GM Special Service Tools
- Install & Setup - GE-52250 Variable Pressure Leak Detector
- Select: 12 V or 120 V AC
- Install - Battery Cable @ C1 Battery or 120 V AC electrical cord @ Electrical outlet
- Install - Compressed Air - Hose
- Flow Control Valve - On
- Adjust - Pressure Regulator Valve - Test Pressure = 14 kPa (2 PSI)
- Press the switch: Vapor Test
- Adjust - Pressure Regulator Valve - System Pressure - Less than 34 kPa (5 PSI) & Maintain pressure
NOTE:Smoke dissipation occurs at a greater rate as the pressure is increased. Smoke exiting the system may be less visible at higher pressures.
CAUTION:Excessive System Pressure may cause incorrect results and may damage mechanical components or seals.
NOTE:Allow time for vapor to saturate the system
- Use the special tool: Halogen Inspection Light - Illuminate the area(s) of concern - Induction System or Exhaust System
Verify the condition does not exist: Smoke exiting the system
- If a condition exists
Repair or replace as necessary
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
- If a condition exists
- All OK.
NOTE:
NOTE:
To help locate intermittent leaks move related components while applying smoke to the system.
