Preliminary Procedures Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) , and Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9) Reposition the steering column upper trim cover as necessary. Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement (Chevrolet, With BTM) , Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement (Chevrolet, Without BTM) , and Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement (Buick, With BTM) Ignition Lock Cylinder Opening Trim Cover Replacement
1	Ignition Lock Cylinder Procedure Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Insert a pick-type tool into the proper hole on the ignition and start switch housing and press the lock tab on the ignition lock cylinder down while turning the cylinder to the START position. Pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the ignition and start switch housing. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) , and Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9)

Procedure

Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
Insert a pick-type tool into the proper hole on the ignition and start switch housing and press the lock tab on the ignition lock cylinder down while turning the cylinder to the START position.
Pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the ignition and start switch housing.
Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) , and Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9)
