Updated Diagnostic information for Diagnostic Trouble Code P0451 |
| Cause |
Notable changes have been made to SI Diagnostics regarding DTC P0451 |
CORRECTION
- In an effort to eliminate confusion, the "conditions for setting" and "diagnostic aids" have removed verbiage related to the "rezero procedure".
- The conditions for setting P0451 have been streamlined to: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor = Not within a calibrated range.
- The Diagnostic Aids have been improved to clarify a vent system restriction or a contaminated service port, could prevent fuel vapor pressure from bleeding off causing a DTC to set.
- Diagnostic aid added "dry" as a condition to verify on the fuel tank pressure sensor, conveying that a wet reference port could also cause this DTC to set.
- This procedure added a step to verify a no poor fuel fill quality concern, and to first search for blockages.
- If condition is present (identifies additional areas to look for restrictions, kinks, blockages, or visible damage prior to testing- was in previous version).
- To close the system for testing purposes, Step 9.1 instructs to perform the scan tool function: Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Valve - Not Venting.
- Engineering has also added a timing and range to the verification of Fuel Tank Pressure dropping into spec within 3 seconds specified time.
