Removal Procedure
- Remove the right wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (MHG, M2D With F46)Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (MHG, M2D Without F46) .
- Remove the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LTG)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV) .
- For the 2.0L LTG engine, remove the transfer case bracket. Transfer Case Bracket Replacement
- For the 1.5L LFV engine, remove the transfer case brace. Transmission Brace Replacement
Disconnect the transfer case vent hose (1) from the power transfer unit case (2).
- Disconnect the two piece propeller shaft from the power transfer unit case. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
- Support the power transfer unit case (2) with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.
Remove the remaining power transfer unit case-to-transmission bolts (1).
- Separate the transfer case (2) from the transmission and remove the power transfer unit case.
Remove and discard the power transfer unit case-to-transmission O-ring.
