Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 GMC Acadia Limited, 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2017 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the infrared transmitter.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 12 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, RSA ON, test for B+ between the control circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear audio/HVAC module.
  4. Ignition ON, DVD playing, test for varying AC voltage between the signal circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • Left DVD audio signal (+) - terminal 1
    • Right DVD audio signal (+) - terminal 3
    • If AC voltage is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance.
  5. Ignition OFF, disconnect the radio connector X3, test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: audio common circuit terminal 11 at the radio and terminal 2 at the infrared transmitter.
    • If greater than the specified value test for an open/high resistance in the circuit. If the circuit test normal, replace the radio.
  6. Ignition ON, RSA ON, test for varying AC voltage between the signal circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • Left infrared audio signal (+) - terminal 9
    • Right infrared audio signal (+) - terminal 11
    • If AC voltage is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance.
  7. Ignition OFF, disconnect the rear audio/HVAC module connector X1, test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: audio low reference circuit terminal 2 at the rear audio/HVAC module and terminal 10 at the infrared transmitter.
    • If greater than the specified value test for an open/high resistance in the circuit. If the circuit test normal, replace the rear audio/HVAC module.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the infrared transmitter.
