Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (MHG, M2D With F46)Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (MHG, M2D Without F46) .
  2. Remove the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LTG)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV) .
  3. For the 2.0L LTG engine, remove the transfer case bracket. Transfer Case Bracket Replacement 
  4. For the 1.5L LFV engine, remove the transfer case brace. Transmission Brace Replacement

  5. Disconnect the transfer case vent hose (1) from the power transfer unit case (2).
  6. Disconnect the two piece propeller shaft from the power transfer unit case. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
  7. Support the power transfer unit case (2) with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.

  8. Remove the remaining power transfer unit case-to-transmission bolts (1).
  9. Separate the transfer case (2) from the transmission and remove the power transfer unit case.

  10. Remove and discard the power transfer unit case-to-transmission O-ring.
