Installation Procedure

  1. Install the transfer case adapter (2) to the transmission.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. For manual transmission, install the NEW transfer case adapter to transmission fasteners (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft) plus 30-40 degrees.

  3. For automatic transmission, install the NEW transfer case adapter to transmission fasteners (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft) plus 30-40 degrees.
  4. Install the NEW transfer case adapter to transmission fastener (2) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft) plus 60-75 degrees.

  5. Install the NEW rear transmission mount through bolt (1) and tighten to 80 N.m (59 lb ft) plus 45-60 degrees.

  6. Lightly lubricate the adapter seal (1) with transmission oil prior to installation.
  7. Install the NEW transfer case adapter seal to the transfer case adapter. Refer to Transfer Case Adapter Assemble (MHB) .
  8. Install the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement .
