Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Unlock the retaining tab (2) on the battery fuse box flap (1).
- Open the battery fuse box flap.
- Unlock the retaining tab (3) and open the battery fuse box cover (4).
- Remove the battery positive cable to starter cable nut (2).
- Remove the battery positive cable to starter cable (1).
- Loosen the 2 battery positive plate nuts (3).
- Loosen the battery positive cable nut (4).
- Loosen the battery positive cable (5).
- Remove the battery hold down retainer nut (1).
- Remove the battery hold down retainer (2).
- Use a suitable screwdriver (1) to unlock the battery fuse box hooks from the battery.
- Reposition the battery fuse box (2) along with the battery positive cables.
- Unclip the battery tray protector retainer (2) from battery tray.
- Remove the battery tray protector (1) by moving rearward, in the direction of the arrow.
- Move the battery (2) forward, in the direction of the arrow and lift it to remove, while holding back the fuse box (1).
NOTE:
Pull the battery fuse box housing. DO NOT pull the flap.
NOTE:
Only necessary if vehicle is equipped with a short battery.
