Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet and outlet pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement , and Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement .

  3. Remove the battery ground cable nut (1).
  4. Remove the negative cable (2).

  6. Unclip the generator and starter cable retainers (2, 3) from the body and from the transmission bracket.
  7. Remove the generator and starter cable conduit bolt (1).

  9. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal from the transmission manual shift lever pin.
  10. Press the locking tabs inward in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (1) from the cable bracket.
  11. Hang the transmission range selector lever cable aside to gain access to the generator and starter cable (4).
  12. Unclip the generator and starter cable retainers (2) from the rear transmission bracket.
  13. Unclip the generator and starter cable conduit retainer (3).
  14. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  15. If equipped, remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .

  17. Remove the starter ground cable nut (3) and remove the ground cable (4).
  18. Remove the generator and starter positive cable nut (2) and remove the generator and starter positive cable (1).

  20. Remove the generator positive cable nut (1) and the generator positive cable (2).
  21. Remove the generator and starter cable.
