Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Only use a battery with the same part number and the same battery characteristics like nominal capacity and open circuit voltage.

  1. Install battery (1) in direction of the arrow until it rests against the battery tray.

  3. Install the battery tray protector (1) to battery tray and move it in direction of the arrow until the retainer (2) engages with the battery tray.

  5. Align the rear side of the battery fuse box (1) exactly to the rear side of the battery (2).

  7. Install the battery positive cable (4) to the battery.
  8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  9. Tighten the battery positive cable nut (3) to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).
  10. Tighten the 2 battery positive plate nuts (2) to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
  11. Install the battery positive cable to starter cable (7).
  12. Install the battery positive cable to starter cable nut (1) and tighten to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
  13. Install the battery hold down retainer (6).
  14. Install the battery hold down retainer nut (5) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  16. Close the battery fuse box cover (1) and lock the retaining tabs (2, 3)
  17. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  18. After replacement of the battery, use a scan tool to program and reset functions. Refer to Control Module References .
