Removal Procedure

WARNING:
Always wear safety goggles when working with fuel in order to protect the eyes from fuel splash.
WARNING:
Do not allow smoking or the use of open flames in the area where work on the fuel or EVAP system is taking place. Anytime work is being done on the fuel system, disconnect the negative battery cable, except for those tests where battery voltage is required.
- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (FWD) or Fuel Tank Replacement (AWD) .
- Install the EN-48279 Tool-Fuel Sender Lock Ring to the fuel pump module lock ring (1).
- Using the EN-48279 Tool-Fuel Sender Lock Ring and a long breaker-bar, rotate the fuel pump module lock ring (1) in a counterclockwise direction in order to unlock the lock ring from the fuel tank (2).
- Remove the fuel tank fuel pump module (2).
- Remove and discard the fuel tank fuel pump module O-ring gasket (1).
