Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Control modules the vehicle is equipped with
- The control modules ground, B+, and ignition circuit terminal IDs and connectors
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the K59 starter generator control module.
- Ignition OFF, scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door and wait 1 minute. Test for less than 10 Ω between each ground circuit terminal at the K59 starter generator control module harness and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for 10-18V between each B+ circuit terminal at the K59 starter generator control module harness and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for 10-18 V between each ignition circuit terminal and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K59 starter generator control module.
NOTE:
Use the schematic to identify the following:
NOTE:
Some control module ground circuits may require up to 20 minutes to achieve a resistance reading of less than 10 Ω. In most cases the readings will drop below 20 Ω within 1 minute indicating the control modules are going to sleep.
NOTE:
If less than the specified range, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
