Circuit/System Testing

Auxiliary Audio Input Jack without Multimedia Player Interface Module

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X83 auxiliary audio input.
  2. Ignition ON, radio ON, test for 2.5-3.5 V between the auxiliary detection terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A11 radio.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A11 radio.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the radio. Test for infinite resistance between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit terminal 23
    • left auxiliary audio circuit terminal 24
    • right auxiliary audio circuit terminal 10
    • If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground.
  4. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 24 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 2.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 10 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 4.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 23 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 5.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  7. Reconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 radio.
  8. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 5
    • left auxiliary audio circuit X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 2
    • right auxiliary audio circuit X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 4
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A11 radio.
  9. If all circuits test normal, replace the X83 auxiliary audio input and reconnect all harness connectors. Connect and operate the portable audio playback device. If audio cannot be heard from the device, replace the A11 radio.

USB Port without Multimedia Player Interface Module

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the USB cable connection at the A11 radio.
    2. NOTE:

    USB cables and adapters for the following tests are found in the EL-50334-50   EL-50334-50  USB Cable and Adapter Kit.

  2. Connect the EL-50334-1 Type A male to Mini A male USB Cable to the A11 radio.
  3. Connect the EL-50334-3 Type A female to Type A female adapter to the EL-50334-1 Cable.
  4. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the EL-50334-3 adapter. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the A11 radio.
  5. Ignition OFF, reconnect the vehicle USB cable to the A11 radio.
  6. Disconnect the X301 I/P to floor console harness USB connector.
    7. NOTE:

    The EL-50334-3 Type A female to Type A female adapter may be required for the following test.

  7. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the I/P side of the X301 connector. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the I/P USB cable assembly.
  8. Ignition OFF, reconnect the X301 harness connector.
  9. Disconnect the USB cable at the X92 USB receptacle.
  10. Connect the EL-50334-4 Type A female to Mini B female adapter to the USB cable.
  11. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the EL-50334-4 adapter. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the console USB cable assembly.
  12. If all circuits test normal, replace the X92 USB receptacle.

Auxiliary Audio Input Jack with Multimedia Player Interface Module

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X83 auxiliary audio input.
  2. Ignition ON, radio ON, test for 2.5-3.5 V between the auxiliary detection terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the T11 multimedia player interface module.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the T11 multimedia player interface module.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the T11 multimedia player interface module. Test for infinite resistance between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit terminal 3
    • left auxiliary audio circuit terminal 12
    • right auxiliary audio circuit terminal 13
    • If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground.
  4. Test for less than 5 Ω between the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 12 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 2.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Test for less than 5 Ω between the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 13 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 4.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Test for less than 5 Ω between the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 3 and the X83 auxiliary audio input X1 terminal 5.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  7. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 radio. Test for infinite resistance between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit terminal 23
    • left auxiliary audio circuit terminal 24
    • right auxiliary audio circuit terminal 10
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  8. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 24 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 14.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  9. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 10 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 15.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  10. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 23 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 4.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  11. Reconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 radio.
  12. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 4
    • left auxiliary audio circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 14
    • right auxiliary audio circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 15
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A11 radio.
  13. If all circuits test normal, replace the X83 auxiliary audio input and reconnect all harness connectors. Connect and operate the portable audio playback device. If audio cannot be heard from the device, replace the T11 multimedia player interface module. If audio is still not heard from the device, replace the A11 radio.

USB Port with Multimedia Player Interface Module

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the USB cable connection at the T11 multimedia player interface module.
    2. NOTE:

    USB cables and adapters for the following tests are found in the EL-50334-50   EL-50334-50  USB Cable and Adapter Kit.

  2. Connect the EL-50334-2 Type A female to Mini B male USB Cable to the T11 multimedia player interface module.
  3. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the EL-50334-2 cable. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the T11 multimedia player interface module.
  4. Ignition OFF, reconnect the vehicle USB cable to the T11 multimedia player interface module.
  5. Disconnect the X301 I/P to floor console harness USB connector.
    6. NOTE:

    The EL-50334-3 Type A female to Type A female adapter may be required for the following test.

  6. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the I/P side of the X301 connector. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the I/P USB cable assembly.
  7. Ignition OFF, reconnect the X301 harness connector.
  8. Disconnect the USB cable at the X92 USB receptacle.
  9. Connect the EL-50334-4 Type A female to Mini B female adapter to the USB cable.
  10. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the EL-50334-4 adapter. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the console USB cable assembly.
  11. Ignition OFF, reconnect X92 USB receptacle to the vehicle USB cable.
  12. Ignition ON, radio ON, connect a USB device to the X92 USB receptacle. Verify the infotainment system switches to USB as the audio source.
    • If the infotainment system does not switch to USB as the audio source, replace the X92 USB receptacle.
  13. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at both the A11 radio and the T11 multimedia player interface module. Test for infinite resistance between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit A11 radio terminal 23
    • left auxiliary audio circuit A11 radio terminal 24
    • right auxiliary audio circuit A11 radio terminal 10
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  14. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 24 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 14.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  15. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 10 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 15.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  16. Test for less than 5 Ω between the A11 radio X1 terminal 23 and the T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 4.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  17. Reconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 radio.
  18. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the circuits listed below and ground:
    • auxiliary audio common circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 4
    • left auxiliary audio circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 14
    • right auxiliary audio circuit T11 multimedia player interface module X1 terminal 15
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A11 radio.
  19. If all circuits test normal, replace the T11 multimedia player interface module and reconnect all harness connectors. Connect and operate the USB device. If audio is still not heard from the device, replace the A11 radio.
