Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.8L)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.6L) .
    2. Fig 1: Aligning Starter Heat Shield To Starter Motor & Brackets

  2. Remove the fasteners securing the starter heat shield to the starter.
  3. Remove the starter heat shield.

  4. Remove the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the starter.
  5. Remove the starter heat shield mounting bracket.

  6. Remove the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the engine block.
  7. Remove the starter heat shield mounting bracket.
