Exhaust Manifold Replacement-Left: Notes

Removal Procedure

CAUTION: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

CAUTION: Refer to PROTECTIVE GOGGLES & GLOVE CAUTION .

Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
Remove the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE REPLACEMENT in Engine Mechanical-3.8 L.
Remove the left engine lift bracket retaining fasteners.
Remove the left engine lift bracket.
Remove the two bolts attaching the exhaust crossover to the left exhaust manifold.

Remove the left exhaust manifold retaining fasteners.

Remove the left exhaust manifold and the gasket from the engine. Do not reuse the gasket.
Clean and inspect the left exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD CLEANING AND INSPECTION in Engine Mechanical-3.8 L.
