Starting System: Identification

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article under RESTRAINTS in GENERAL INFORMATION. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Vehicle model is identified by fourth character of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN is stamped on a metal pad on top of the left end if the instrument panel, near the windshield.
