SERVICE INFORMATION

The above listed vehicles will no longer contain an engine oil level switch beginning with vehicles built on the following dates:

VEHICLE INFORMATION

Assembly Plant Plant Code Models Date
Lansing, Michigan M,C Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am January 28, 2003
Oshawa, Ontario 1,9 Buick Century February 26, 2003

The engine oil pan is being revised and will not contain a provision for the switch. All service engines will be built with the switch hole. When replacing engine assemblies, the dealer should transfer the existing oil pan to the new engine for vehicles that do not contain a switch. Parts catalogs will be revised to show both a first design oil pan, with the switch hole, and a second design oil pan, without the switch hole. Be sure to check the vehicle before ordering an oil pan.
