Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Savana, 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express, 2001 GMC Savana Special, 2001 GMC Savana Camper Special, and 2001 GMC Savana. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Raise and support vehicle. Wash all contaminants from Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU). Disconnect harness connector from EBCM. Remove EHCU from frame rail.
  2. Remove mounting bracket from EHCU. Remove EBCM mounting screws from BPMV. DO NOT use a tool to pry EBCM from BPMV. Separate EBCM from BPMV. If removing EBCM, remove combination valve from EBCM.
    NOTE: DO NOT use RTV or other type of sealant on EBCM gasket or mating surfaces.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Calibrate new EBCM to vehicle tire size using a scan tool. Tighten NEW BPMV-to-EBCM mounting screws in criss-cross pattern and to 18 INCH lbs. (24 N.m).
