HVAC Module Assembly: Removal

  1. Recover the refrigerant. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Drain the coolant.
  2. Remove the evaporator hose nut. See Fig 1. Disconnect the evaporator hose connection at the evaporator.
  3. Remove the heater hoses from the heater core using the hose clamp pliers. See Fig 2. Plug the heater core and evaporator openings to prevent leaking into the vehicle when removing module assembly.
  4. Remove the I/P assembly. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Remove the defroster duct retaining screws. Remove the defroster duct nut. See Fig 3.
  5. Remove the defroster duct. Remove the air distributor duct screws. Remove the air distributor duct.
  6. Disconnect the blower control module connection. Disconnect the I/P to HVAC module connection. See Figure. Remove the HVAC module retaining nuts. Remove the HVAC module. See Fig 4.
