Test C: One Window Inoperative

  1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe power window switch parameters in Driver Door Module (DDM) data display. Operate all widow switches. If all switch parameters change according to switch position, go to step  6 . If any parameters do not follow switches, go to next step.
  2. Operate driver door switch and observe parameters. If parameters follow switch, go to next step. If parameters do not follow switch, see TEST D: WINDOWS INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER DOOR SWITCH  .
  3. Activate power window switches on passenger and rear doors. Observe parameters on scan tool. If parameters do not change to any state other than idle, go to next step. If parameter changes to other than idle, check ground wire and connectors. If problem was found, repair as necessary. If problem was not found, replace door module of inoperative window.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect power window switch connector from inoperative window. Connect a fused jumper between ground and signal circuit of parameter that did not respond. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If scan data now indicates missing state, go to next step. If missing state is not indicated, check signal circuit wiring and connector. If problem was found, repair as necessary. If problem was not found, replace door module.
  5. Check connections at window switch. If problem was found, repair as necessary. If problem was not found, replace window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Choose each power window in POWER WINDOW TEST in OUTPUT CONTROL in DRIVER DOOR MODULE data list. Command all windows UP and DOWN. If all windows operate, retest system. If all windows do not operate, go to next step.
  7. Check power and ground circuits to windows that do move up and down. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem was found, repair as necessary. If problem was not found, go to next step.
  8. Check wiring and connections for shorts, opens and grounds. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem was found, repair as necessary. If problem was not found, replace power window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
