Remote Keyless Entry System Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to establish communication with the following modules:
- Dash Integration Module (DIM).
- Driver's Door Module (DDM).
- Rear Integration Module (RIM).
- Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
If scan tool communicates with all modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with all modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Select DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool for the following modules:
- DIM.
- DDM.
- RIM.
- RCDLR.
If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair concern by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool does not display DTCs U1161, U1162, U1163 or U1170, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs U1161, U1162, U1163 or U1170, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs beginning with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs beginning with "U", go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- If scan tool does not display DTCs B1000, B1004, B1007, B1009 or B1010 (Bonneville only), go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000, B1004, B1007, B1009 or B1010 (Bonneville only), go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1327, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If scan tool does not display DTC B1327, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
