Remote Keyless Entry Systems: Description: Notes
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. Radio frequencies or discharged batteries may disable the system. RKE allows operation of the following components:
- Door locks.
- Rear compartment lid release.
- Illuminated entry lights.
- Panic alarm (instant alarm).
The RKE system has the following main components:
- Transmitters.
- Remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR).
When a button is pressed on a transmitter, the transmitter sends a signal to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function using a class 2 message over the serial data line.
