Test B: Memory Recall Position Inaccurate
- If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, see DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- To verify complaint is present, turn ignition on, engine off. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to your preference. Using memory switch, set personalization recall to your adjustments. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to an extreme position. Press memory button that was previously programmed. If both outside rearview mirrors move back to programmed setting, problem is intermittent. If both outside rearview mirrors do not move back to programmed setting, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Using scan tool, navigate to SETTING OPTIONS screen by making the following selections: DASH INTEGRATION MODULE, SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, SET OPTIONS, then PERSONALIZATION OPTION. Follow on screen instructions to verify PERSONALIZATION OPTION is activated. If PERSONALIZATION OPTION activated, go to next step. If PERSONALIZATION OPTION is not activated, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article to reprogram body control system.
- Using scan tool, navigate to DRIVER DOOR MODULE data list. Using scan tool, observe appropriate VERTICAL SENSOR and HORIZONTAL SENSOR POSITION parameters. Using mirror adjustment switches, move inoperative mirror to limits of travel in both vertical and horizontal directions. If scan tool indicates VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL POSITION parameter values change and are within 0.5-4.75 volts, go to step 9 . If scan tool does not indicate VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL POSITION parameter values change and are within 0.5-4.75 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect inoperative mirror connector from appropriate door module. Ensure other harness connectors to door module remain connected. Turn ignition on, engine off. Measure voltage at door module connector C4 terminal "M" at door module pin. See Figure . If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step 11 .
- Using scan tool, observe appropriate VERTICAL SENSOR and HORIZONTAL SENSOR POSITION parameters in DRIVER DOOR MODULE data list. If scan tool indicates VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL POSITION parameter values are 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL POSITION parameter values are 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step 11 .
- Install a fused jumper wire (3-amp) between inoperative mirror sensor ground circuit and horizontal sensor signal circuit at door module pins. Using scan tool, observe HORIZONTAL SENSOR POSITION parameter. Install a fused jumper wire (3-amp) between inoperative mirror sensor ground circuit and vertical sensor signal circuit at door module pins. Using scan tool, observe VERTICAL SENSOR POSITION parameter. If scan tool indicates voltage for each position parameter was 0-0.5 volt, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate voltage for each position parameter was 0-0.5 volt, go to step 11 .
- Check inoperative outside rear view mirror connector for poor connections. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to step 10 .
- Check door module connector of inoperative mirror for poor connections. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 . If problem was not found, go to step 11 .
- Replace inoperative outside rear view mirror. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Replace door module of inoperative mirror. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair.
