Electronic Brake Control Module: Installation

CAUTION: Use correct fastener in correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in service procedures. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage fastener. Use correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to part and systems.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure brakelines are installed in original locations. Ensure EBCM harness connector tab is locked down. Tighten bolts, nuts and brakelines to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS in appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
  2. If NEW BPMV is being installed, ensure shipping plugs are removed from valve openings. Refill brake master cylinder reservoir, bleed brakes and check for leaks. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM in appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
  3. Using scan tool, perform Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
