Charge Indicator Light Inoperative

  1. Connect scan tool. Start engine. Using scan tool, observe BATTERY VOLTAGE parameter in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) data list. If voltage is greater than 9.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 9.5 volts, see CHARGING SYSTEM FUNCTIONAL TEST  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on, engine off. If battery charge indicator light illuminates for 5 seconds during bulb check, system is good. If battery charge indicator light does not illuminate for 5 seconds during bulb check, go to next step.
  3. Replace IPC. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
