Preliminary Inspection
NOTE:
If power windows do not operate for about 10 minutes or until door is opened after ignition is turned off, repair retained accessory power system as necessary. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with door control modules. If communication is not successful, repair serial data link fault first. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If communication with modules is successful, retrieve all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Perform necessary repairs if DTCs exist. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- If all windows are inoperative from driver door switch assembly, check power window circuit breaker in rear fuse block. Replace as necessary.
- If windows move slowly, ensure battery is fully charged, terminal contact and ground connections are okay. Check window regulator lubrication. Ensure aftermarket equipment is properly installed. If no problem was found, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYMPTOM TESTS.
