A/C Pressure Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Pontiac Bonneville and 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
A/C pressure sensor may also be referred to as the A/C pressure transducer.
A solid state A/C pressure sensor is mounted on compressor discharge line and is used to monitor A/C system pressure. Pressure sensor sends a variable voltage signal to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Higher A/C system pressures result in higher voltage output, and lower A/C system pressures result in lower voltage output. PCM uses voltage inputs to control compressor clutch operation, and cooling fan low speed and high speed operations. PCM will disengage compressor clutch when A/C system pressure is greater than 430 psi (30.2 kg/cm2 ) or less than 35 psi (2.5 kg/cm2 ).
