Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Buick LeSabre. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the lower control arm to the frame.
- Install the lower control arm bolts and nuts.
- Install the lower ball joint and retaining nut to the steering knuckle.
Tighten:
- Tighten the lower ball joint retaining nut to 10 N.m (88 lb in) plus 150 degrees.
- Tighten the 2 flats to a minimum of 55 N.m (41 lb ft) in order to align the cotter pin slot.
- Install the cotter pin.
- Install the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the control arm nuts in the following sequence:
Tighten:
- Tighten the rear mounting bolt to 158 N.m (117 lb ft).
- Tighten the front mounting nut to 126 N.m (93 lb ft).
- Inspect the trim height. Refer to Trim Height Inspection Procedure in Wheel Alignment.
IMPORTANT:
Do not tighten the control arm nuts at this time. Before tightening the control arm mounting nuts, support the weight of the vehicle by the control arms in order to obtain the vehicle design trim heights.
