DTC 25/35: Security Indicator Status: Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Do not use test light or battery voltage to test THEFT LED or LED will be damaged. Test light is okay to test LED circuits with LED disconnected.
NOTE: Perform diagnostic test when DTC 25/35 is not set or if THEFT LED is inoperative.
  1. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform diagnostic system check before proceeding. See THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Disconnect THEFT Light Emitting Diode (LED) 2-pin harness connector. See Figure. Connect a test light between THEFT LED harness connector Black wire terminal and battery positive voltage. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4.
  3. Using a DVOM in diode scale, connect DVOM positive (Red) test lead to THEFT LED Dark Green wire terminal. Connect negative (Black) test lead to THEFT LED Black wire terminal. If THEFT LED illuminates, go to step  5. If THEFT LED does not illuminate, go to step  8.
  4. Repair open in Black wire between ground and THEFT LED, then go to step  9. Ground point is located behind left kick panel, near "A" pillar.
  5. Inspect Dark Green wire for an open or short between BCM harness connector C3 terminal C16 and THEFT LED. If an open or short is not found, go to next step. If an open or short is found, repair as necessary then go to step  9.
  6. Disconnect all BCM harness connectors. Inspect for corroded or pushed out pins. Connect all BCM harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, go to next step. If concern does not exist, go to step  9. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
  7. Replace BCM. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING.
  8. Replace THEFT LED, then go to next step.
  9. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating properly, repeat test beginning at step  2.
