Test G: Traction Control Indicator Inoperative
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, select BCM Data List in scan tool list. Using scan tool, read TCS switch state as TCS switch is pressed and released. If TCS switch state changes as switch is pressed and released, go to next step. If TCS switch state does not change as switch is pressed and released, go to step 7 .
- Using scan tool in ABS/TCS mode, read TCS switch status TCS switch is pressed and released. If TCS switch state changes as switch is pressed and released, go to step 5 . If TCS switch state does not change as switch is pressed and released, go to next step.
- Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to step 14 .
- Using scan tool, go to OUTPUT CONTROLS in instrument panel display. Using scan tool in WOW mode, turn instrument panel indicators on and off. If TRAC OFF indicator turns on and off when commanded, go to step 4 . If TRAC OFF indicator does not turn on and off when commanded, go to next step.
- Repair or replace instrument panel cluster. After repairs, go to step 14 .
- Disconnect traction control switch connector. Using scan tool in BCM Data List, read TCS switch status. Connect a jumper wire between the traction control input circuit and traction control ground circuit terminal of traction control switch harness connector. If TCS switch status change with jumper wire connected, go to next step. If TCS switch status does not change, go to step 9 .
- Replace traction control switch. After replacing switch, go to step 14 .
- Turn ignition off. Check resistance of traction control ground circuit between traction control switch harness connector and a known-good ground. If resistance 0-2 ohms, go to step 11 . If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair traction control ground circuit for open or high resistance. After repairs, go to step 14 .
- Disconnect BCM harness connector C2. Check resistance in traction control input circuit between the traction control switch harness connector and BCM connector. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 13 . If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair traction control ground circuit for open or high resistance. After repairs, go to step 14 .
- Replace BCM. After replacing BCM, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
