System Operation Check
- Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, and then turn off. If security indicator stays on or flashes, see TEST A: SECURITY INDICATOR ALWAYS ON OR FLASHING under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine starts, see TEST B: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE STARTS under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator does not illuminate, diagnose instrument cluster circuits. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
- Ensure transaxle is in Park. Turn ignition switch to START position. Engine should start and security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, and then turn off. If security indicator stays illuminated or flashes, see TEST A: SECURITY INDICATOR ALWAYS ON OR FLASHING under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine starts, see TEST B: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE STARTS under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine does not crank, see TEST C: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK under SYMPTOM TESTS.
