System Operation Check

  1. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, and then turn off. If security indicator stays on or flashes, see TEST A: SECURITY INDICATOR ALWAYS ON OR FLASHING  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine starts, see TEST B: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE STARTS  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator does not illuminate, diagnose instrument cluster circuits. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  2. Ensure transaxle is in Park. Turn ignition switch to START position. Engine should start and security indicator should illuminate for 5 seconds, and then turn off. If security indicator stays illuminated or flashes, see TEST A: SECURITY INDICATOR ALWAYS ON OR FLASHING  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine starts, see TEST B: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE STARTS  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator stays on and engine does not crank, see TEST C: SECURITY INDICATOR ON, ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK  under SYMPTOM TESTS. If security indicator does not illuminate, diagnose instrument cluster circuits. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
