Lumbar Support Up/Down Function Does Not Operate

  1. If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, select memory seat module inputs. Move lumbar up/down switch up. If scan tool indicates switch action, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate switch action, go to step 6).
  3. With memory seat module inputs still selected, move lumbar up/down switch down. If scan tool indicates switch action, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate switch action, go to step 6).
  4. Disconnect lumbar up/down motor connector. Connect unpowered test light between lumbar up/down motor harness connector terminal "B" (Tan wire) and ground. Move lumbar up/down switch up. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8).
  5. Connect unpowered test light between lumbar up/down motor harness connector terminal "A" (Purple wire) and ground. Move lumbar up/down switch down. If test light illuminates, go to step 7). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9).
  6. Replace left seat switch. Recheck system operation.
  7. Replace lumbar up/down motor. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SEATS article. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  8. Repair open in Tan wire between lumbar up/down motor and MSM. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  9. Repair open in Purple wire between lumbar up/down motor and MSM. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
