Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check. After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
  2. Start and operate engine at idle. Using scan tool, monitor FAILED THIS IGN under DTC status for DTC(s) P0327 and P1371. If DTC P0372 or P1371 failed in this ignition cycle, go to applicable/affected DTC. If DTC P0372 or P1371 did not fail in this ignition cycle, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, select ENGINE SPEED and observe display while moving related harness connectors (at component and PCM). Also, observe for engine miss or stall when a connector is moved. If display changes abruptly, or engine misses or stalls while moving connectors, go to step 6). If no changes are noticed while moving connectors, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, select ENGINE SPEED and observe scan tool display while moving related harness connectors (at component and PCM). Also, observe for engine miss or stall when a connector is moved. If display changes abruptly, or engine misses or stalls while moving connectors, go to step 7). If no changes are noticed while moving connectors, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, review FREEZE FRAME and/or FAILURE RECORDS data and note parameters. Turn ignition off for about 15 seconds. Start engine and operate vehicle within the conditions required for this diagnostic to run, and as close to conditions recorded in FREEZE FRAME/FAILURE RECORDS as possible. Select DTC function then enter DTC P0323. If scan tool indicates that this test failed this ignition, go to step 8). If scan tool does not indicate that this test failed this ignition, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS.
  6. Repair affected connectors or terminals. After repairs, go to step 9).
  7. Repair faulty wiring. After repairs, go to step 9).
  8. Recheck all affected circuits and connectors. If circuits and connectors are okay, check ignition distributor. Replace or repair as necessary and then go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, select DTC, CLEAR INFO function. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Select DTC, SPECIFIC, then enter DTC P0323. Operate vehicle within conditions for setting this DTC. If scan tool indicates that this test ran and passed, go to next step. If scan tool did not indicate that this test ran and passed, repeat step 2).
  10. Using scan tool, select CAPTURE INFO, REVIEW INFO function. If any undiagnosed DTC(s) are displayed, go to applicable DTC test.
