- Disconnect theft deterrent module connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between theft deterrent module connector terminal A3 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. If about 5 volts is not present, go to next step. If about 5 volts is present, go to step 3).
- Check for open or short in Dark Blue wire between theft deterrent module and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Also, check for poor connections at theft deterrent module and PCM. If Dark Blue wire and connections are okay, check for related codes stored in PCM. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect theft deterrent module connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between theft deterrent module connector terminal A3 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. If about 2.5 volts is not present, check for poor connections at theft deterrent module. If connections are okay, replace theft deterrent module. If about 2.5 volts is present, check for related codes stored in PCM. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article.
