Code 58/63/66 - Abs Motor Circuit Shorted To Battery Or Motor Shorted: Notes
- Code 58 - Left Front ABS Motor
- Code 63 - Right Front ABS Motor
- Code 66 - Rear ABS Motor
This test identifies ABS motor circuit that is shorted to battery, or motor with low or no resistance. Fault will not allow motor to be controlled at commanded current rate or will cause it to rotate in opposite direction or not turn at all.
Code can set only when ABS motor is commanded off and EBCM/EBTCM detects an out of range voltage on either circuits indicating a circuit shorted to battery or a shorted motor. Code will be stored, ABS will be disabled and ABS warning light illuminated.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests. For identification of circuits and terminals referenced in charts and text, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Checks for short to battery in ABS motor high circuit.
- Checks for short to battery in ABS motor low circuit.
- Checks for short to between high and low ABS motor circuit.
- Checks if ABS motor is internally shorted.
- Ensures malfunction was not due physical circuit damage.
