Low Oil Level Indicator On, Oil Level Okay

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Chevrolet Caprice. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Wait 30 seconds and, using Tech 1 scan tester, check for Powertrain Control Module Code 96. If Code 96 is set, see the appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  2. If Code 96 is not set, disconnect engine oil level sensor connector. Check for battery voltage between engine oil level sensor connector terminal "B" (Brown wire) and ground. If battery voltage is not present, check for open circuit or poor connection in Brown wire between PCM terminal No. 27 and oil level sensor terminal "B". If circuit is okay, replace PCM.
  3. If battery voltage was present, check Black/White wire ground circuit at oil level sensor terminal "A" for an open circuit or poor connection. If ground circuit is okay, replace oil level sensor.
