Boost Gauge Input Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Pontiac Bonneville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect boost/map sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between boost/map sensor connector terminal "C" (White wire) and ground. If 5 volts are present, go to next step. If 5 volts are not present, check Gray wire at boost/map sensor for an open or short circuit to ground. Check all connectors for good terminal contact. If all circuits are okay, replace instrument cluster.
- Measure voltage between boost/map sensor connector terminal "C" (White wire) and terminal "A" (Black/White wire). If 5 volts are present, go to next step. If 5 volts are not present, check Black/White wire and connectors for an open circuit.
- Connect fused jumper wire between boost/map sensor connector terminals "C" (White wire) and "A" (Black/White wire). If boost gauge indicates +10, check boost/map sensor connector for good terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, replace boost/map sensor. If boost gauge does not indicate +10, check Yellow/Black wire for an open or short circuit to ground. Check all connectors for good terminal contact. If circuits are all okay, replace instrument cluster.
