Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bags. To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows driver to operate several vehicle features from outside car using a hand held radio transmitter. Pressing UNLOCK button once unlocks driver's door and turns on interior lights. Pressing UNLOCK button a second time within 25 seconds unlocks all doors (including fuel door) and turns on interior lights.

Pressing lock button locks all doors (including fuel door lock). Pressing trunk button releases trunk lid. Battery life under normal operation is approximately 5 years. For transmitter programming, see TRANSMITTER & RAC PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE.

Remote Accessory Control (RAC) module, located behind right side of instrument panel assembly, receives and interprets transmitter signal. For RAC module programming, see TRANSMITTER & RAC PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE.
