2.2L Engine: Installation

  1. Generator to rear bracket with rear bolt/screw. (Do not tighten at this time).
  2. Generator to tensioner bracket with front bolt/screw.

    Tighten 

    • Generator front (pivot) bolts/screw to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft.)
    • Generator rear bolts/screw to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.)

    NOTE: Correct output terminal nut torque must be used. If the wrong torque or the torque for the wrong size or type of nut is used, the connection may loosen or there may be internal damage to the generator causing it to fail later.
  3. Battery positive lead and nut to generator output ("BAT") terminal.

    Tighten 

    • M6 Flanged nut to 6 N.m (35 lb. in.)
    • M6 Prevailing torque insert type nut to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.)

  4. Electrical connector to generator.
  5. Drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
  6. Negative battery cable.

    Tighten 

    • Cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb. ft.)
