Test S - Main Relay Ground

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS main relay. Remove fuse No. 5B from instrument panel fuse block. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and main relay Black connector terminal No. 30. See Figure . Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair open in anti-lock diode and circuits No. 852 (White wire) and No. 1633 (Red wire).
  3. Measure voltage between main relay Black connector terminals No. 30 (+) and 87A ( - ). Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair open in circuit No. 251 (Black/White wire).
  4. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and main relay Black connector terminal No. 85. Resistance should be more than 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, check and repair short to ground in circuit No. 1632 (Pink wire). If Pink wire is okay, check EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals for poor contact. If EBCM/EBTCM terminals are okay, replace EBCM/EBTCM.
  5. Check resistance between ABS main relay terminals No. 30 and 87A. See Figure . Resistance should be less than 3 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace ABS main relay.
  6. After all repairs are complete, clear codes, and perform ABS/TCS functional check. See Figure .
