Test N - EBCM/EBTCM Grounded Switch Input

  1. Perform ABS/TCS functional check before proceeding. See Figure . Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM electrical connector. Connect Pinout Box (J-38716).
  2. Disconnect TCC/anti-lock brake switch connector. Disconnect PMV Black C1 connector (models with traction control).
  3. Measure resistance between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 4 and pinout box pin No. 1. See Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, check and repair open in circuit No. 251 (Black/White wire).
  4. Measure resistance, in turn, between pinout box pins No. 1 and pinout box pins No. 5, 8 and 13. Resistance readings should be more than 5 ohms (open circuit). If any reading is not as specified, check appropriate wiring for short to ground.
  5. Measure resistance between pinout box pins No. 1 and 26. Resistance should be more than 5 ohms (open circuit). If resistance is not as specified, check and repair short to ground in circuit No. 853 (Light Blue/Black wire).
  6. If all readings are as specified, check EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals for poor contact. If EBCM/EBTCM terminals are okay, replace EBCM/EBTCM. After repairs are complete, clear codes and repeat ABS/TCS functional check. See Figure .
