Intermittent Open/Short Circuit Check

  1. Wiggle suspect PASS-Key II(R) system wiring harness. This will set fault Code E58 in PCM if problem is detected in fuel enable circuit. Check PCM for history fault codes. If PASS-Key II(R) history code exists, check for intermittent wiring or contacts in fuel enable circuit. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  2. Check module power and ground circuits while wiggling harness. SECURITY indicator will light and remain on while a problem is detected in key resistance circuits, and will turn off if fault goes away. SECURITY indicator will light for a 5-second bulb check if ground or battery inputs are intermittent. Loss of battery input is not a possibility since internally decoder module will use ignition input for power if battery is lost.
