Relay Check
NOTE:
Data Link Connector (DLC) may also be referred to as Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) connector.
NOTE:
If instructed to change relay during SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, check relay prior to replacement.
Connect Tech 1 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions to retrieve stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Determine appropriate relay requiring service. See RELAY SERVICE table.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove appropriate relay. Using appropriate tools from Connector Repair Tool Kit (J-38125-A), remove relay harness connector terminals No. 1 and 4. See Figure and/or Figure .
- Reinstall relay. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM harness connector. Install Pinout Box (J-38716). Using Test Adapter Kit (J-35616-A), connect DVOM test leads to relay through open relay harness connector cavities.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using jumper wire connected to specified pinout box terminals to energize relay. See RELAY ENERGIZING
. Energize relay at least 10 times while monitoring relay contact resistance. If resistance is greater than one ohm at any time, replace appropriate relay. If resistance is less than one ohm, relay is okay.RELAY ENERGIZING
Relay Connect Pinout Box Terminals ABS Main 1 & 34 ABS Pump 1 & 15 - If relay tests okay, resume original SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If relay is replaced, perform ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
NOTE:
DO NOT measure resistance without removing specified terminals or resistance readings will be inaccurate.
