Anti-Theft System - Forced Entry System: Description

Anti-theft system consists of controller, protective switches, alarm relay and starter interrupt relay (some models). Controller is located under instrument panel on Buick models, DeVille, Fleetwood and Toronado. On Eldorado and Seville it is located on the accelerator pedal lever cover. Protective switches are located in door, trunk and hatch locks.

Corvette is equipped with a 2-part theft deterrent system. The horn is used as an alarm to deter forced entry. The second is an engine-start disable Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS), which operates when a method other than the proper key is used to start the engine.

Separate system checks and diagnostics are used for the evaluation of this combined theft deterrent system. The controller on Corvette models is located behind right side of instrument panel. Protective switches are located in door, trunk and hatch locks. See Figure .
