Relay Switch Test

  1. If gear mechanism is in full-park position, insert a small screwdriver into switch slot (between drive pawl and latch arm) and push latch arm downward and toward relay switch coil in direction of arrow.
  2. Remove washer pump assembly and probe (penetrate insulation) Black/Pink stripe wire with 12-volt test light. If tester lights but motor does not run, go to step 3). If tester does not light, relay switch and terminal board are defective. Replace or repair as necessary.
  3. Disassemble motor section and check for, hung brush, improper solder connections at brush holders, improper splice joints at field coil connections to leads, open armature and circuit breaker ground connection on field lamination. Visually inspect circuit breaker for dirty or burned contacts or solder connections to circuit breaker terminals.
