Removal & Installation: Injectors: Removal

  1. On transverse-mounted V6 engines (front wheel drive), it may be necessary to perform the following procedure in order to remove injectors.
  2. Rotate intermediate steering shaft so steering gear stub shaft clamp bolt is accessible. Remove clamp bolt. Disconnect intermediate shaft from stub shaft.
  3. Remove engine-to-body support strut. Place floor jack under front crossmember of the cradle. Raise jack until jack just starts to raise vehicle.
  4. Remove the 2 front engine cradle-to-body mount bolts with lower cushions and back-up washers. Remove cushions from bolts.
  5. Thread body mount bolts with back-up washers a minimum of 3 threads into cage nuts so that bolts restrain cradle movement. Release floor jack slowly until crossmember contacts body mount bolt retainers.
  6. On V8 engine, disconnect fuel line from injector. Use back-up wrench on upper injector hex. Cap injector and lines. Remove injector. Remove copper nozzle gasket from cylinder head if gasket did not remain on injector.
