Removing the electrical machine electronics

WARNING: High-voltage system.
The high-voltage system works with dangerous electrical voltage and high currents flow. Mortal hazard through electric shock!
WARNING: Car may slip off the vehicle hoist where components are supported.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!
  • Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
  • Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.
WARNING: Car may slip off the vehicle hoist if the weight is distributed unevenly.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!
  • Ensure specific weight compensation on the vehicle.
WARNING: Hot fluids.
Risk of scalding!
  • Conduct all work in the vehicle wearing appropriate personal protective equipment only.
WARNING: Work on components with requirements for a secure energy supply.
Ensure function after a repair.
CAUTION: Materials harmful to health.
Contact with fluids harmful to health!
  • Note and follow safety instructions on containers.
  • Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Dirt or foreign body in the cooling system.
Contamination of the cooling system can lead to malfunction or loss of function.
  • Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
  • Always protect opened cooling system from contamination. It is essential to prevent dirt or foreign bodies from entering the cooling system, for example, by covering or closing.
  • Protect the components of the cooling system against contamination after removal, for example, by covering or closing.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
After disconnecting, close the high-voltage connectors with the caps from the 5A4A589 special tool kit.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Perform wheel alignment after installation.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Always  replace the radial shaft seal in the electric machine transmission after every removal of the driven shaft!
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
With the ignition off and the high-voltage safety plug disconnected, the Check Control message "High voltage system faulty" is displayed by default.
The message "High-voltage system switched off" (absence of voltage) is only displayed when the ignition is switched on.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Collect and dispose of emerging fluids. Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Refer to NOTES FOR WORKING ON THE COOLING SYSTEM .
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
After a brake pad exchange and before pressing the brake pedal: Always apply the electromechanical parking brake.
If this is not observed, a CC message appears and the brake system switches to the emergency program. The brake booster is no longer active.
