Potential equalization in high-voltage system

Mortal hazard if the potential equalization screw connection is not correct!

- Observe the safety requirements for potential equalization screw connection.
- Clean contact faces and have then checked by a second person.
- Tighten the screws/nuts for equipotential bonding with torque; have a second person check the torque.
- Correct execution of this work must be documented by both persons in the vehicle records.

- Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
- Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.

Connection overview of electrical machine electronics (EME)
- Detach the high-voltage cable from the attachment points (1) .
- Unscrew the bolts (2)
and remove the support (3)
.
- Unscrew the bolts (1)
and remove the sheet metal bracket from the electrical machine electronics (EME) (2)
.
- Detach the clamps (1)
and remove the sound insulation (2)
.
- Unscrew the bolt (1) at the ground connection of the wiring harness.
- With SA4U7 direct current quick charging or SA4U8 alternating current quick charging:
Unlock and disconnect the connector of the high-voltage cable (2) .
Unclip the high-voltage cable (2) of the convenience charging electronics (KLE) from the holders (arrows) and feed them out.
- Disconnect the signal line (3) .
- Detach the wiring harness (4) from the attachment points (arrows).
- Disconnect the high-voltage cable (5) of the electric A/C compressor (EKK).
- For SA4U8 alternating current quick charging:
Disconnect the high-voltage cable (6) of the convenience charging electronics (KLE).
- On vehicles with range extender
- Release screw (1) of the potential equalization line.
- Unlock and disconnect the coolant line (2)

- Detach the clamp (1) and pull the coolant hose off.
- Unscrew the bolt (2) and remove the potential equalization line.
- Loosen clamps (3) .
- Loosen the screw (4)
and remove the line clip.
- Detach and remove the high-voltage cable of the electric A/C compressor (EKK) from the attachment point (1) .
- Detach the clamps (2) of the sound insulation (3) .
- Feed out the sound insulation (3)
and remove it.
- Unscrew the bolts (1)
and remove the service cap (2)
.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Contaminant or foreign body .
Contamination can result in malfunctions, loss of function or leaks .- Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
- Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
- Close off line connections with seal plugs.
- Unscrew the bolts (1) of the high-voltage cables.
- Disconnect the plug connection (2) .
- If necessary, remove bolts and foreign bodies from the electrical machine.
- Unscrew the bolts (1)
on the electrical machine electronics (EME) (2)
.
- Unscrew the bolts (1)
on the electrical machine electronics (EME) (2)
.
- Carefully place the electrical machine electronics (EME) (1) into the special tool 2 356 938 .
- Cover the open connection area of the electrical machine.
