SERVICE INFORMATION

DELIVERY STOP: PROGRAM KAFAS MODULE

Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

A Delivery Stop has been issued (effective October 25, 2018) on Model Year 2019 BMW X5 SAV Series vehicles that have been produced between September 18, 2018 - October 24, 2018.

Approximately 1,929 vehicles are affected by this delivery stop.

Affected vehicles show the campaign as "Open" when checked either in Warranty Vehicle Inquiry, AIR or ISPA Next and identified with the description: STOP013457 B66 15 18 Delivery Stop: Program Control Units (KAFAS)

All of the other systems including DAR and the RDR system will show the Stop Sale Sign starting tomorrow. Please utilize the Inventory Campaign Details under ROSS which shows all vehicles that have a Stop Sale in your inventory.

SITUATION

The KAFAS (Camera Assisted Drivers Assistance System) module erroneously trigger warnings and CCMs (Check Control Messages) which lead to customer discomfort and uncertainty with the KAFAS functionality.

CAUSE

KAFAS module software error

CORRECTION

Update the KAFAS module software

PROCEDURE

Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.14.14 or higher (released on Friday October 26th, 2018).

G05	S18A-18-11-523 or higher

Note that ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ).

WARRANTY INFORMATION

The bulletin will be updated as soon as we have more information.

Stop-Sale Override during Vehicle RDR: Delivery Stop Repair Completed

You will need to have the repair order (RO) number and the RO date to retail (RDR) an affected vehicle once it is repaired as outlined in the Procedure.

Please ensure the claim for this campaign is promptly submitted through DCSnet via normal claim entry once the campaign information becomes available as noted above.
