The function of the range extender electrical machine is to be described exclusively as an alternator. The inverter in the REME-control unit converts the three-phased AC voltage of the electrical machine into direct current voltage. This way, the generated direct current voltage can charge the high-voltage battery. This procedure takes place during operation of the range extender.
